"anything worth doing is worth overdoing" -Mick Jagger

I'm often flabbergasted by the comments thrown at me by people who I consider "friends" about how little faith they have in the work I'm trying to accomplish.  Their claim in their bold statement is that its simply the reality of the matter.  Mine is that they're simply missing a few elements in their formula.

Everyday at work, I take the time to conversate with the very few people who I can actually relate to.  Very few people.  I come into work, a sea of brilliant minds and accomplished beings who've all devoted themselves to hard work and long hours to a craft that I can't even imagine giving a single minute of my time to.  Yes, I'm a black sheep in a field of cattle.

Yet, something is still admirable about the work they do.  Though I have absolutely no interest, nor will I ever have interest in this field of study, I've come to get to know the people behind the curtain and find myself relating to even these people... who I share almost no hobbies or interests with.  I guess I've come to relate to the human being they are.  The conflicts they face on a daily basis... with family, friends, co-workers... I mean, we all have issues, and we all need people to talk to about it.  and somehow I've been entitled as the office shrink.

But there's something you need to understand.  I took a very opposite direction in life, in comparison to the rest of my coworkers.  I don't have the bachelors degree up on my wall, the 25 page term papers, the endless hours of voluntary community service, I dont have the acceptance letter for internship at a prestigious big 4 accounting firm....

all I have is my experiences.  all I have is my own awareness.  all I have is the will, the motivation, the courage to do something so far outside of the box, that I'm willing to put it all on the line.  I dont have the track record to prove that I'm going to succeed, just the passion to go for it regardless of how much the numbers tell me otherwise.  But most people have a lot of difficulty swallowing such a concept.

I dont mind that people don't have faith in my motives.  I dont mind that they dont believe that things will work out.  I was in their shoes once.  At a time where I thought I had solidified what I was gonna do the rest of my life.  Then life happened, and it tore me apart.  It changed me, and forced me to rebuild from nothing.  And suddenly, I'm somewhere completely different, wondering what would have happened if I would have done things differently.  But none of that matters, because this is where I am now.  Staring down a very different road, envying those who have risen to the challenge, pitying those who don't know any better.

The reason why I'm blogging about it is because I pray that those of you who have reached a point where life seems to have lost meaning, maybe you feel trapped in your relationship, or job... maybe you've just gotten so comfortable that fear has built a wall around you and you've completely lost yourself in someone else's reality.. maybe you're bored of what you're doing and are simply desiring the need to inflict excitement back into your life...

Go seek out your passion in life.  Go find what it is that gets you going.  Whatever it is, regardless of what people say about it, go find it and go after it.  Sooner or later, everyone gets to that point where they've set themselves up in a direction, and later realize its not the direction they want to be taking anymore.  Change is a part of life, and the moment you learn to embrace life is the moment you live.

I guarantee you that the moment you get outside your comfort zone and chase after something meaningful in life, that nobody else can claim except yourself, you'll find happiness.  you'll find truth.  you'll find a life worth living.
